Stress Free Move
Everybody knows how stressful moving can be. I spent 15 years in the moving and storage business prior to getting into the junk removal business and I will never forget how stressed out people become during a move. So many details to think about and deal with. That’s one of the reasons I decided to start Junk MD (San Diego’s Eco-Friendly Junk Removal Specialists). People are much happier when you’re coming to haul away their junk, rather than relocate all of their prized possessions. So, here are a few tips you can to do to keep your stress levels low during your move. Ideally, this is a great opportunity to separate all of your unwanted items prior to the move. But, I get it, life and lack of time get in the way. Here’s your second chance!
Tip #1: While you’re unpacking, have a space dedicated for items you don’t want, don’t need or just don’t have the space for. These are the items that can be picked-up by your favorite local San Diego Junk Removal Specialists, yours truly Junk MD! We donate or recycle up to 60% of all the items we haul away. So even though it might not be a good fit in your new home or apartment, the local Goodwill or Habitat for Humanity will most likely accept it for donation. In this case everyone wins, most importantly YOU… Clutter-free home, re-use or recycle all of your unwanted belongings and you’re giving back to charity and the community. At this point you should already be feeling less stressed.
Tip #2: While you unpack, keep the biggest empty box you have beside you — an empty “wardrobe” or “dishpack” will work just fine. As you’re unpacking throw allof the packing paper in the big empty box. This helps keep your new home from drowning under an ocean of paper. Listen, back when I was a mover you wouldn’t believe how many times I witnessed someone slip on a piece of packing paper or step on something valuable they didn’t see hidden underneath that pile of newsprint. Remember… we’re trying to stay stress free here.
Tip #3: Break down and flatten out all the empty boxes. Stack them up and call the Junk Doctor –that would be me– to come pick them up. We recycle the cardboard and donate the re-usable boxes to boxed green. At this point, you should be feeling really good! You’re excited to be in your new home and you have sorted and unpacked, and separated the junk from what you intend to keep.
So what’s next? That’s the easy part, call Junk MD at 858-864-7763 and get your FREE quote or on-site estimate. Until then, stay strong and junk free!
